Ruraq Maki is one of over 750,000 non-profit organizations that have used Facebook to share out news and events with its community and to raise funds. Today, there are a couple of simple and fun ways that YOU as a Facebook user can get actively involved in helping the women in the Ruraq Maki programs.
Create a fundraiser for Ruraq Maki.
With a few simple clicks you can set up a fundraiser to include on your Facebook feed and encourage friends and family to donate:
- Click Fundraisers in the left menu of your News Feed.
- Click Raise Money.
- Select Nonprofit/Charity.
- Select Ruraq Maki as the charitable organization and fill in the fundraiser details.
- Pick a cover photo for your fundraiser. We can provide you ones if you don’t have one, just ask when you let us know about your fundraiser! Click Create.
- Share your new fundraiser on your timeline for the world to see!

Create a birthday fundraiser!
Over 45 million people give birthday wishes on Facebook. In response, Facebook launched birthday fundraisers, allowing people to dedicate their birthday to support a cause they care about.
For those in the U.S., Facebook sends a notification in your News Feed two weeks before your birthday with the option to create a fundraiser for your birthday. Simply follow the steps to create the post and your friends will be notified in their News Feed (Facebook even provides some boilerplate language if you prefer it to writing your own).
Add a donate button to a Facebook post.
You can also add “donate” buttons to your posts to help raise money. It’s just a few steps to set it up and when your friends see the button on your post, they can easily make a donation directly from their News Feed.
By creating a fundraiser, not only are you helping the women financially but you’re educating more people about the program. It takes only a moment to set up but the impact of your action is far-reaching and lasting.
